The paper initially takes stock of the long centenary of the Great War analyzed from not only a European but a global perspective with a focus on the American context. It then analyzes the most relevant historiographical innovations with regard to the relationship between the United States and Italy during the years of the conflict with particular attention to the construction of the American myth and its diffusion in Italian public opinion.
