Pseudo-anglicisms in German appear like borrowings from English but originate in German word formation. They also include English borrowings with different meanings in German or which have developed additional meanings. This corpus-based study of German pseudo-anglicisms is based on the entries of the Neologismenwörterbuch in OWID. It records the meaning of the pseudo-anglicisms and their appropriate English expressions and lists morphological aspects of the formations. The study uses DeReKo (the German reference corpus) to determine whether lexical units that originated before the 2010s are still in use or whether English terms have replaced them.

Abstract
Pseudo-anglicisms in German appear like borrowings from English but originate in German word formation. They also include English borrowings with different meanings in German or which have developed additional meanings. This corpus-based study of German pseudo-anglicisms is based on the entries of the Neologismenwörterbuch in OWID. It records the meaning of the pseudo-anglicisms and their appropriate English expressions and lists morphological aspects of the formations. The study uses DeReKo (the German reference corpus) to determine whether lexical units that originated before the 2010s are still in use or whether English terms have replaced them.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
