The paper aims to give an archaeological and historical interpretation of the Roman bath complex of the Terme Tulliane in Tarquinia in the light of geophysical investigations. The first part presents the history of the previous studies, which still represent the only known data. The second one directly focuses on comparisons, both iconographically and planimetrically, trying to check the chronology and understand the hypothetical use and structure of the different rooms according to the geophysical surveys.

Abstract

The paper aims to give an archaeological and historical interpretation of the Roman bath complex of the Terme Tulliane in Tarquinia in the light of geophysical investigations. The first part presents the history of the previous studies, which still represent the only known data. The second one directly focuses on comparisons, both iconographically and planimetrically, trying to check the chronology and understand the hypothetical use and structure of the different rooms according to the geophysical surveys.
