This chapter discusses possible interrelations between interpreter training and theatrical training. In particular, it focuses on the seemingly beneficial effect of theatrical training and improvisation drills to best manage stress and nonverbal communication among interpreter trainees. Lastly, it argues that improvisation exercises my activate lateral thinking and help student interpreters develop the necessary flexibility in linguistic availability and interpreting strategies activation.
