In the present work, we investigate OV/VO alternation in embedded sentences through a contrastive analysis of four German-speaking linguistic islands located in the North-eastern Alps, namely Cimbrian, Plodarisch, Saurian, and Timavese. We focus on "light constituents" (i.e. object clitics and negation) and how they interact in the process of reanalysis as a result of the V(P)R-phenomenon, suggesting a clause-medial/initial T as a landing site for Aux/Mod, thus providing a possible diagnostics for the switch from an OV- to a VO-order.
