The collection is the outcome of a seminar held in Verona (Department of Law) with the participation of a group of academics from Eastern Europe. The essays in the volume examine the concept of sustainability – understood above all (but not only) in its ‘environmental’ meaning –firstly, with a view to its interactions with the rules and principles applying to administrative procedures (especially in those countries where a General Administrative Procedure Act is in force). Secondly, issues concerning environmental protection or new environmental protection requirements through administrative justice are addressed, with a special focus on judicial review. Finally, the possible effects of sustainability on local government are considered.
