This chapter offers a critical analysis of the studies dedicated by Aldo Neppi Modona to the ancient history of the Dodecanese islands, in particular the 1933 monograph devoted to the history of Kos (with a focus on the Hellenistic and Roman Imperial periods). In addition, it highlights how these works fit into the coeval Italian scholarly literature on the subject, which was influenced by the Myth of Romanità favoured by Fascism
