In this short article, I will discuss a problematic passage of the bilingual section of the Political Testament of the Old Hittite King Hattušili I, redacted in Akkadian and in Hittite. The passage (lines 27-28 of columns i and ii) is highly fragmentary in both versions, but contains an alleged Akkadian idiomatic expression, so that attempts have been made to reconstruct it, with consequences on the interpretation of the meaning of the document. In this contribution, however, I will argue that the restoration of an otherwise unattested Akkadian formula aburriš kullum is in fact not supported by the available evidence.
