This essay reappraises these idea of the state as a safe place by locating it in a time of migration and climate change. I peruses the general theories of state in modern politico-legal thought, as hey are useful when examining state narcissism in an age, like ours, where the idea of borders is being undermined. It also examines how displaced refugees and mass migration add fuel to the transnational effects of globalisation. Likewise, climate change has spill-over effects triggering transformative changes within national orders.
