In this article we present the myth of the unreachable island and we examine the different conceptions that substantiate its origin. The crystallization of the features that characterized the topic is studied in relation to some ancient literary works, in order to connect several representations of the myth to the images of enchanted and inaccessible islands that abound in Spanish chivalric fiction books

En el estudio se presenta el mito de la isla inalcanzable y se investigan las distintas concepciones que fundamentaron su origen. La cristalización de las características que conformaron el tema se indaga en relación con varias obras antiguas, con el objetivo de entroncar las distintas representaciones del mito con las imágenes de islas encantadas e inaccesibles que abundan en las páginas de los libros de caballerías castellanos
