«Le mal des fantômes»: la Shoah nel grido profetico di Benjamin Fondane

Surrounded by a perfect evil, undressed and with no lands, suspended between life and death in a lonely and tearing poetic cry, Benjamin Fondane’s "fantômes" are constantly escaping. Crossing the "non-lieu" of the history, they take refuge in the lyrical structures of Fondane’s French poems. In this brief article, we will assist to the fusion of "fantômes" and "juifs" which in a "congrès de fantômes" and in the quiet of a "temps mort" will continuously cry without a response. We will also examine the constant research of a Supreme Entity, therefore, the resignation in front of a "dieu terrible" which existence should normally be incompatible with the existence of evil. Finally, we will focus on the unalienable character of the tragical destiny that the Jewish immigrant is forced to suffer in a wrecked France where the spectacle of the human horror takes the shapes of the macabre and becomes an infinite cry.
