This paper investigates the influence that Gaetano De Sanctis’ work and thought exerted on Greek history studies during the 1930s. I focus not only on the publications of his pupils, such as Arnaldo Momigliano and Piero Treves, but also on those of the scholars who collaborated with the Rivista di filologia e di istruzione classica, edited by De Sanctis since 1923.

Abstract
This paper investigates the influence that Gaetano De Sanctis’ work and thought exerted on Greek history studies during the 1930s. I focus not only on the publications of his pupils, such as Arnaldo Momigliano and Piero Treves, but also on those of the scholars who collaborated with the Rivista di filologia e di istruzione classica, edited by De Sanctis since 1923.
