In this work, the main stages of studying the pharmacological effects of biologically active substances through the pharmacometabolomics approach using Danio rerio as an animal model were developed. The applicability of the developed methodology was proven by studying the effects caused by the compounds with neurotropic action of two different “classes” – a novel psychoactive substance – 5F-APINAC – which is known to be a synthetic cannabinoid, and diazepam – a classic benzodiazepine. Also, metabolomic results were proven by applying behavioural studies in zebrafish exposed to 5F-APINAC. The metabolomic results have shown significant correlations with the results of behavioural approach.
