In the 15th century, the fortune of the Roman de Florimont (written in 1188 by Aimon de Varennes in octosyllabic couplets) is witnessed by three different prose versions. We will start by giving summary information on these prose version, and then offer a closer look to the second one, transmitted by MS Paris, Bibliotèque nationale de France, fr. 1490 and MS Arsenal, 3476, both copied in the second half of the 15th century. This version, very little studied, derives from a model which belonged to the β family of manuscripts of the original Florimont and contains four insertions in verses taken from the model. The article will focus on the aspects concerning the reshaping and the rewriting of Aimon’s original text into prose.

This version, very little studied, derives from a model which belonged to the β family of manuscripts of the original Florimont and contains four insertions in verses taken from the model.
