The topic of this Special Issue of the Journal of International Economic Law is the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS or Committee) and its place in international economic law and governance. At the international level, the Committee represents the most important source of standards in the field of banking regulation, especially in respect of financial intermediaries’ capital requirements. Its main goal is to protect the resilience of the global financial system. The selection of articles here presented is the result of a two-year research-project involving several European universities, coordinated and funded by the University of Verona (Italy).

Abstract
