Abstract

The present chapter discusses the compatibility with international law of the latest 2013 Fisheries Protocol concluded by the European Union and Morocco. Despite a number of institutional reassurances produced within the EU, the Protocol remains at variance with international law in two main respects, namely the violation of the principle of peoples' permanent sovereignty over natural resources and of the duty not to recognize the effects of serious violations of international law.
