Despite the wide interest shown in biophysical models of diffusion MRI that enable the extraction of microstructural parameters a segmentation strategy based on the microstructural indices has not yet been developed. We propose the use of the indices calculated by NODDI as microstructural features and the processing of the main diffusion direction in a scheme that integrates the local neighborhood. We later incorporate these features into a constrained spectral clustering method to perform a partition biased by a small set of pairwise constraints.

Abstract

Despite the wide interest shown in biophysical models of diffusion MRI that enable the extraction of microstructural parameters a segmentation strategy based on the microstructural indices has not yet been developed. We propose the use of the indices calculated by NODDI as microstructural features and the processing of the main diffusion direction in a scheme that integrates the local neighborhood. We later incorporate these features into a constrained spectral clustering method to perform a partition biased by a small set of pairwise constraints.
