Abstract

Marcel.lì Antùnez Roca’s – founder member of the Fura dels Baus – last twenty years works, are the focus of my research project. To join together, in a sinuous circle, thought, art and life is one of the most important methodological bet of this project. In view of that, the greatest possible number of traces of the body, or rather, the bodies involved are intentionally preserved into my words. That means that words have skin, nails, hair and teeth. They breath, sweat, move around, chasing after images and drawings. Drawings - become signs and symbols, appearing into the text not in the form of attachments or guests, but rather as structural fundament, significant vowels at the base of the philosophical writing I propose. I took inspiration from the artist’s diaries, travel companions during this transforming marine journey, which reshuffles and blows up the distances between disciplines; up to the point of question the same concept of philosophy. What’s philosophy? As body remains at the core, so water blended with blood – while artist’s maternal family lived in a mill, the paternal one lived in a butcher shop – flows and draws the chapters, which arise contagiously by a wavy metonymic course. Catalan artist’s alphabet and bestiary weave together, in order to permit the immersion in his text and works. That fluid course draws the possible ways of interpretation, which is the possible constellations originated from a chaotic evolution. The continuous transition from outside to inside, and vice versa, transforms sheets in porous skin, which is at the same time an absorbent border and a dripping opening. The title “Back into Chaos” is intended to reecho and raise Marcel.lì Antùnez Roca’s vision, focused on an art able to create Cosmogonies. Chaos as the beginning – in its multiple mythological and etymological sense – evokes a universe made up of undivided elements, coexistent in a constant transformation generating and reabsorbing the unexpected. The present research project tends to this unstable shapeless nebula – where nothing is separated and everything is blended – crossing it and founding itself immersed in the Tiamat’s primordial aquatic stream –the Mother of all of Them.
