The essay investigates the presence of Greek quotations in the “Annotationes ex trium dierum confabulationibus de thermis caldarianis” by Veronese humanist Giovanni Antonio Panteo. In particular, the study focuses on such aspects as textual quality and provenance of the Greek excerpts featured in the “Annotationes” as well as the cultural motivation behind their employment by Panteo (also in view of the humanistic debate about the importance of Greek as a technical language in various scientific fields).
