in this study we have analyzed the +61 A—G polymorphism in the 50 UTR of the EGF gene in transplanted patients who have developed nonmelanocytic skin tumors to investigate the possible role of EGF polymorphism in tumorigenesis. We have found no evidence to support the hypothesis that the +61 A—G polymorphism is involved in the non-melanocytic skin tumor development in transplanted subjects undergoing immunosuppressive treatment. The non-significant younger age at tumor development of G/G carriers needs further investigation. We confirm that the only risk factors for the development of non-melanocytic skin tumor are the age at transplantation and the skin type, according to previous observations
