Observed 2 polygraphically recorded episodes of pavor nocturnus (PN) in 2 epileptic children. The episodes of PN were not accompanied by any EEG evidence of epileptic discharge. It is suggested that PN and epileptic seizures can be phenomena of completely different natures even when they occur in epileptic Ss. It is concluded that the possible findings of interictal epileptiform abnormality in the EEGs of children with PN cannot be considered as proof of a link between epilepsy and PN. Abstract
