Abstract

Of 144 cases of ovarian carcinoma observed over a 10 year period in Pavia University's Obstetrics and Gyneacology Clinic, 14 primary neoplasias in other organs were encountered in 13 of the patients. After a brief outline of each clinical case history the possible pathogenic mechanisms involved in the creation of 'secondary tumours' are discussed and the endometrium and mammella are identified as the most common sites of secondary associated tumours. The importance of close observation of such patients, who risk the formation of neoplasias in other areas, is emphasized.
