Abstract

The association of acute leukaemia with pregnancy is rare, but the prolonged responses to the therapy and the improved prognosis with the newest treatment suggest that one should foresee the increase of this association. Described here are four cases of acute leukaemia in pregnant patients (two myeloblastic, one lymphoblastic and one promyelocytic) studied jointly in the Obstetric and Gynaecologic clinic and the Division of Haematology of the University of Pavia. The authors describe some doctrinal and practical aspects of the association, pointing to the reasons why they have suggested interrupting the pregnancy in two of these cases.
