Describes the case of a quadrigeminal plate lipoma in a 4-yr-old boy who presented with epilepsy and developed behavioral changes tending toward aggressiveness. After 2 episodes of tonic-clonic generalized epileptic seizures associated with fever, the child was treated with and benefitted from phenobarbitone therapy. However, he still had episodes of hypotonia, ataxia, motor uncoordination, and confusion. An MRI disclosed a well defined lesion at the level of the left inferior colliculus, which showed a high signal in T1 and low in T2 sequence. The persistence of seizures and behavioral changes led to a decision to remove the lesion surgically. Following surgery, the child became (and remains) seizure free, showed less aggression, and has greatly improved in social behavior. ((c) 1998 APA/PsycINFO, all rights reserved)
