The prevention and the early diagnosis of Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) play a role of great and rising importance, both for the improvement on the quality of life of the patient but also on the decision-making process by the majority of dentists and oral surgeons involved. Nowadays it should be known that not only bisphosphonates are involved in the pathogenesis, and not only conventional radiological techniques are available. Dental panoramic radiographs or Orthopantomograms (OPT) represent usually the first imaging step, both for their wide availability and low radiation dose. In this study of 25 patients the numerous advantages of CBCT in relation to CT and OPT are highlighted.

Abstract
The prevention and the early diagnosis of Medication-Related Osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) play a role of great and rising importance, both for the improvement on the quality of life of the patient but also on the decision-making process by the majority of dentists and oral surgeons involved. Nowadays it should be known that not only bisphosphonates are involved in the pathogenesis, and not only conventional radiological techniques are available. Dental panoramic radiographs or Orthopantomograms (OPT) represent usually the first imaging step, both for their wide availability and low radiation dose. In this study of 25 patients the numerous advantages of CBCT in relation to CT and OPT are highlighted.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
