The use of Salmonella enteritidis (SE) live attenuated vaccines is one of the major tool to reduce this infection in commercial poultry. In this work, techniques, evaluating the presence and the expression of some cytokines, were studied to improve the knowledge of the cellular-mediated immune response following SE vaccination. This study demonstrated that SE vaccination enhances the production of INF-gamma, IL-8, iNOs, while downregulates IL-1 beta. Between these immunologic parameters, the evaluation of INF-gamma seems to be the most significant and easy test to plan and optimize SE vaccination programs.
