Nuove fonti per l’epistolario del cardinale Enea Silvio Piccolomini.

The researches carried out for the edition of the letters of the cardinalate of Enea Silvio Piccolomini have brought to light texts of the vast letters correspondence that did not become part of the manuscript and printed collections organized by the nephews of the deceased pontiff and that therefore remained unknown to the scholars. The correspondence between Enea Silvio and the Balia of Siena was the subject of censorship by the heirs because in these letters were described, among other things, the private interests of Piccolomini, that were sometimes in contrast with those of the political elite of his homeland. The letter written by the Cardinal of Siena published here illuminates a part of the judicial events that interested the figure and work of Goro Lolli, a refined humanist and one of the most trusted collaborators of Pius II. The manuscript of the letter actually sent became part of the Count Orlov's collection

Si dà l'edizione della lettera di Enea Silvio Piccolomini scritta da Roma il 5 marzo del 1457 alla Balia di Siena; la lettera effettivamente spedita è stata ritrovata nell’autografoteca Orlov del Museo Storico di Stato di Mosca. Nel commento si mettono in luce gli stretti rapporti tra Enea Silvio un gruppo di umanisti all’interno del quale spiccavano le figure di Goro (Gregorio) Lolli e di Nicodemo Tranchedini.
